We have granted ourselves
tremendous powers that once
were reserved to the Gods.
We have long overthrown them
and assumed their thrones.
We can destroy cities, even
countries on a whim, and
if not careful can eradicate
all life on this planet.
We can harness rivers,
the wind, the sun, the atom.
Yet despite all our power
we cannot avoid growing
old, we cannot avoid dying
for that is the one power
even the Gods never
demonstrated to us.
