QUANDRY

There is an excellent reason that zazen
is a largely silent practice.
It is said you must be in the moment
but there is no other possible moment
you can be in at any given moment.
If you think about being in the moment
the moment is lost to your thoughts
so you were never really in that moment.
So perhaps you can only be in moments
you don’t think you are in when
you are in them, just being that moment.
Of course it is easier said than done
and that is the burden of practicing Zen.
I hope you realize this is not Zen problem
for all the moments you spend reading it
and considering what I meant are
moments you are not really in, are they?
