Just to let you know, I still look for you
even though I know it is not at all
likely that I will find you wandering about,
after all, Florida is quite some distance
from Beverly, New Jersey and you
don’t get out much these days.
Still I look, not certain if you will
be wearing your uniform of
just civvies, but I do know what
you looked like when you were younger.
Of course you have no idea who
I am, would probably be surprised
you have another son, probably forgot
my mother, after all it was a weekend
and you forgot to tell her that you
were already married, had a family,
or perhaps you did and she didn’t care.
So I’ll continue to look for you
in my dreams and hope you come
to visit if you get tired of staying put
in the Beverly National Cemetery
you now call your final home.
