She is leaving too soon.
We know she is leaving,
we know there is nothing
that can be done to change
her departure, only the time
remains uncertain, but now
it is clear it will be soon.

It is not right or fair, we know,
but that has little to do with
when one must depart,
time and fate are fickle
in that way, and we are
powerless to change that.

Still we are thankful
for the time we did have
and hope that others will
have the same sentiment
when it is time for us to depart.
