KNOWING

It is now a given that you
will always want to know more
for that is human nature, which is
to say an intellectual greed.
It is not a deadly sin, but
it did get Adam and Eve
kicked out of Eden, so
be careful for what you ask.
What you don’t consider
is what you might do with
the information, the more
if you were to get it,
for if you are not sure what
it is it could be beneficial or
it could be what lies waiting
in Pandora’s box, and that
did not end well after all.
So perhaps it would be best
to tell the snake of the mind you
are happy knowing what you do.

    This poem could be titled: The Internet! Do I really need to know Immediately the number of cars in Argentina or South America? Need to know the weather in 1888? Need to know tomorrow’s forecast before I finish today’s breakfast?
