How are we to deal with a God

whose angel kills the first born
whose only sin was to be born Egyptian

who causes the sea to wash over an army
doing the bidding of a despot or
facing death at his hands

who turns a city into salt
for the sins of the many but not all

who floods his creation
killing all but one family
who are left to repopulate the world

who watches as six million
innocents are lost and does nothing

or perhaps it is a God who
has grown tired of us, our mistakes,
our evil, our greed and has
simply turned to other things
washing his hands of us finally.
