I sat today and stared
into the backyard, looking
carefully for rabbits.
None appeared today despite
my fond desire to see one
assuming it would be
auspicious somehow.
It is their year now
so I know they can
go when and where they please.
Perhaps they are looking
for red banners of welcome
and I offer none of those for
the Buddhas on the altar say
Dragon ought not waste
time searching for rabbits
when the zafu awaits.
