so much of astronomy
is delusion, that all
of astronomy is history.
Go out in the country
where there are no
streetlights and look
at the sky and the multitude
of stars that you see.
There are atlases listing
the name or number
of each of them but
stop and realize how
many of them now
no longer exist as you
watch their temporal
fingerprints fill the sky.
But also be in awe that
you can see a star
at a moment long before
they planet on which
you are standing was born.
