As a child I always avoided
pins, and not because
I feared at all getting stuck,
that could be a small badge
of courage, no my fear
was what might be on
the head of that pin or this.
It was more elemental
than that, it raised an almost
existential issue that I was
not yet prepared to deal with.
But I had it on good authority,
or so I thought, that angels
were capable of dancing
on heads of pins, and being
Jewish I had two insurmountable,
unresolvable issues for I
was not certain what might
happen if one possessed me
or what might happen to them
if one in the holy trinity
learned that they were
hanging out with a Jewish kid
who thought he might
someday become a rabbi.
