Whoever first penned the adage
that picture is worth a thousand words
and the multitude who have
repeated it ad nauseam in many languages
clearly never attended the parties
I once attended where, when the food
was consumed, the guests adjourned
to a den or living room where
someone wanted to form teams
“for a spirited game of charades.”
Then one poor, lost soul would
stand in front of his team
and like a demented clown
twitch, dance and bend his
or her body into ungodly shapes
demonstrating to all that
in this game the correct adage is
a thousand pictures still are not
worth the missing word.
