FINALLY

It should have been an abruption.
That is how he wanted it, how it would
have been easier for all but he was not
prone to confrontation and so it lingered,
depleting, eroding, wearing down until
there was finally the longed for abruption.

He did not see it coming, it came
from out of nowhere, a fuse lit
much earlier, the explosion just felt
and only he knew it had happened
finally, not the person whose acts
caused the final schism.

He was angry, and he was glad,
for there would be no confrontation,
no need for further words, nothing
at all more to do with each other,
and the last thread to adopted
family had finally been neatly severed.

    Abruption is such a great word to use. Almost Onomatopoeia.
