ON STAGE

NOTE: My new book is here at last. It has been 16 years in the making, nine of which I have spent producing this blog. Since you have been following and reading my work which I appreciate, if you would like a copy Free of the Shadow for $10 (shipping included) rather than its list price of $18, just click here.

They stare at me as though
I have two heads, stand ten feet tall,
have six arms and one eye.
They have paid to watch me
stumble across the stage
mangling my lines, leaving
prolonged moments of silence
when the script called for
a soliloquy that I have forgotten
or chose not to utter yet again.
Perhaps they will grow bored,
will demand a refund and depart,
for this night and all future nights
I will be nor more than a mime
in a world of excess dialog.

A NOTE TO MY SUBSCRIBERS/READERS

I began this daily blog on March 26, 2016. Since that date I have made over 3,300 posts (trying very hard not to be repetitive). With a new collection of poetry and short prose from Plain View Press entitled “Free of the Shadow,” now released, I will be dialing back this blog beginning on April 15 (I know, taxing myself less on Tax day seems a bit ironic) to three posts per week. The format will remain the same.
