It all began with a Big Bang
or that is what they would
have us believe, after all
everything must begin somewhere.
If it did begin in that
sub-instant at some infinitely small
point, where was that point?
There was no space for that point
to exist in, for it did not exist previously
and anyway, space demands time,
they must mutually exist
or neither will do so. That
is why physics tells me that
a beam of light sent into space
must eventually bend around
for space is not infinite and has
an outer surface beyond which
there is no space, nothing.
Of course space is expanding
and so far there is nothing
that will constrain the expansion
so there is a beyond limit
beyond which there is no beyond.
And if I seem to be going
around in circles, I am just
obeying the laws of physics
as we now imagine and believe
them to be until that changes.
