Everyone wants to go back to
the “I wish it were like this world,”
one that never existed, couldn’t
with each of those worlds being
unique and unlike every other
and even if it were possible
only one person would get
their wish fulfilled leaving
the rest of us in a place
that we can never fully imagine,
So knowing they cannot go there,
they want to go back to
the “the way I remember it was”
world, although that world too
differs from person to person
and no two will ever be the same.
And no one stops to consider
what would be lost: loves,
joys, and yes, pains but
those would all be the key
moments that now comprise your life.
No one seems to want to be
in the “ as it is now” world
even though that is the only world
we can ever really have.
