A cynic would say that nature
gave many animals a short lifespan
so they would not have to suffer
our presence for too long a period.
Some say it was just to give us
dominance over other species,
but to them I have to say stop
and consider that our life span
is short in the scope of things
but that is simply because nature
was wise enough to know that
perhaps that was the only way
to place a limit of any sort
on the damage we would
do to her creation given our
unbridled arrogance and greed.
