THE ALCHEMISTS HAND

He said that we are an amalgam
of nature and nurture, and often
there is no real distinction between them.
If only that were my case,
I am bifurcated between what
I know what I imagine,
lived and what I might have,
what was imposedon me by others
some of which others left me I
for those they call their own.
Blood may or may not be
thicker than water, but when
you discover the source of your nature
the slow, oozing wound
of not knowing, of isolation
can last be bandaged
and a new, more complete life
may open up before you.
