CAMERA OBSCURED

People stand in awe
looking at what Ansel Adams’
camera saw on those magical days.
I am an outlier, for although
I am struck by the beauty
His photographs offer my eyes,
the stark play of light and dark,
how shadows define a world,
that is not what I wish
that I could see, for I want
nothing more than to see
what Ansel Adams saw
with his own eyes, the scenes
dazzling in the original
polychromatic reality.
