WOLFGANG

I suppose it will sound odd, but
there was a time when, in addition
to the Rock and Folk music I loved,
classical music was a key part
of my life and helped make me what
I am today: a now retired attorney.
And not just any classical music,
although I loved many of the masters,
Beethoven, Schubert, Bach, others,
(sorry Mahler, Shostokovich but
lines do have to be drawn somewhere)
but the key for me was Mozart.
And not just any Mozart, only
Kochel 550 which you might know
as the 40th Symphony in G minor.
Over two years I no doubt listened
to the 40th at least 60 or 70 times,
and knew the score by heart.
As to it being the key
to becoming a lawyer,
those were years L2 and L3
of law school and the 40th was just
the perfect length to accompany
memorization of my outlines, so
when I found myself stumped
on an exam I could find the movement
and then passage of the 40th
and the text of my outline
would scroll out in my mind.
