Whenever I heard Rolf Harris sing “Tie Me Kangaroo Down Sport,” I had to wonder just what the kangaroo would make of that request. They aren’t the most patient of mammals and I knew few people who could hope to outrun one if it were intent on making a getaway. And I have never known a cockatoo who liked to be doused with water, or sitting in airconditioning for the matter, so how am I to cool it? And as for watching wallabies feed, well even in retirement I have better things to do with my time. Like buying a good shiraz or cabernet from the Margaret River and sitting on my lanai watching the sun set over the wetland as the birds arrive for the night.
