He only wanted to know if there were
places I had always wanted
to visit but never gone, and did
I still plan on going there.
I could have asked “why that question”
but he was someone who never traveled,
was born, bred and would likely die
in this city, content that it had
everything of value that the world
could possibly offer such as us.
When I started talking about Asia
he said we have a Chinatown
and all of the other –towns
you could ever want and I
knew in that moment the one
place above all others
I wanted to go, and planned
to go immediately or sooner was
anywhere far, far away from him
