I keep thinking about the song
I would’ve written
if only I had learned
to play guitar instead of piano.
It is just that a melody
on a piano, for me at least,
would always have leaned classical
and I truly hated Schubert’s leider
so I never even thought of trying.
Still, even with my limited voice
I could’ve been Leonard Cohen
save his time as a Buddhist monk,
Buddhism would come to me later
of course, but now I cannot recall
what I wanted to write a song about
so it is probably best
I never learned
to play the guitar.
