Perhaps the moon should learn
what so many artists know,
that it is more enticing
if the body is not blatantly displayed.
Certainly the fully nude body
draws the eye, but showing less,
a hint of flesh, of thigh or breast,
leaves the viewer wanting more.
But the moon cannot seem to help
herself, always the slow striptease
until she is fully bare and then
embarrassed by her own display
she begins once again to enrobe
herself in darkness until she
has fully disappeared from sight.
But we know she is an exhibitionist
at heart and will not long be able
to avoid putting herself on a display
that will play out for another month.
