HOME, STRANGELY

When you visit Galway city
you will stand slack-jawed
at some, most actually,
of the buskers you see
on almost every street.
Young and talented, you need
to find a bank where you
can stock up on one
Euro coins, lest your trip
cost more than you
ever intended at five euros
for each performance.
And when you visit a pub
at night, come prepared
with a song, or if, like me
you cannot carry a tune
a short poem by Yeates,
if well read, will suffice.
